Job Summary:
The Senior Structural Designer is responsible for leading the structural design, detailing, and coordination of precast and cast-in-place concrete works. The role ensures that all designs comply with applicable codes, project specifications, constructability requirements, and cost efficiency while supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the structural design and detailing of precast and reinforced concrete elements (columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, faade panels, foundations, etc.).
Prepare and review structural calculations, design reports, and shop drawings.
Develop precast connection details, lifting points, and erection methodologies.
Ensure compliance with international and local design codes (ACI, Eurocode, BS, ECP, PCI, etc.).
Coordinate with architectural, MEP, production, and site teams to resolve design conflicts.
Review and approve shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and fabrication drawings.
Provide technical support during manufacturing, erection, and site execution.
Conduct value engineering to optimize material usage, cost, and constructability.
Supervise and mentor junior designers and detailers.
Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Respond to RFIs and manage design changes and revisions.
Ensure designs meet safety, durability, and quality standards.
Software & Tools:
Structural analysis software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD, or similar)
Precast detailing tools (Tekla Structures mandatory/preferred)
AutoCAD
MS Excel for design calculations
BIM coordination tools (Navisworks advantage)
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
310 years of experience in structural design, with strong exposure to precast concrete projects
Proven experience in industrial, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of precast production and erection processes
Ability to lead design packages independently
