Key Responsibilities
In this role, you are responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous optimization of complex IT infrastructure components within your assigned areas of expertise. You act as a last-level technical expert and play a key role in ensuring stable, secure, and standardized IT services.
- Designing, implementing, installing, operating, updating, and troubleshooting assigned specialized IT topics such as:
- Terminal Server environments
- Virtual server infrastructures
- Antivirus and endpoint protection solutions
- Backup and recovery systems
- Linux and Windows server environments
- Database systems
- Secure file transfer environments
- Monitoring solutions
- Standardized platforms and individual application/software solutions
- Independently managing incidents, problems, and escalations up to last-level support
- Supporting the consultation, planning, and technical design of IT projects
- Coordinating tasks, timelines, and deliverables for assignments delegated to external service providers, other IT specialist groups, or operational business units
- Coordinating with external service providers as well as internal IT specialist teams
- Acting as the primary contact for last-level and highly complex technical issues
- Designing and implementing automation solutions, including scripting where required
- Conceptualizing tasks suitable for routine and operational activities
- Creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation independently
- Participating in on-call rotations and scheduled work outside standard business hours for maintenance activities or technical changes
- Taking on defined ITSM roles such as Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, and System Coordinator
- Ensuring strict compliance with information security requirements, including careful handling of privileged access rights
- Adhering to confidentiality obligations, contractual and legal regulations, and ISMS policies
- Immediately reporting and actively supporting the resolution of security incidents
- Additional tasks can be assigned at any time
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of proven, hands-on experience in systems engineering and server-/system administration within complex, enterprise IT environments
- ITILv4 Foundation certification
- Fluent English skills (at least B1 level)
- In-depth knowledge of current market technologies in virtualization (VMware, Proxmox) and backup/restore products (Veeam etc.)
- Very high willingness to learn, strong resilience, and flexibility in a dynamic IT environment
- Structured, goal-oriented, and analytical working style with a strong sense of ownership
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities
- Excellent communication skills, a strong team-oriented mindset in an international environment and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
