Position Description:

As part of the Global Tax team, this resource will focus on the accounting operations of the business for VAT/indirect tax matters related to VAT compliance for AEG, the AEG Ireland entities and AEG throughout Europe.

Responsibilities

• advice and review complex VAT returns, address liability queries, and conduct VAT health checks.
• timely oversight of registrations, audits, and VAT filings.
• customer exemption forms and profiles within the AEG system.
• guidance on complex VAT issues related to transactions, including both domestic and cross-border scenarios.
• with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to manage relationships and ensure compliance.
• abreast of taxation standards and regulations in the UK and Europe.
• on VAT treatment of transactions, place of supply of services, and provide contract reviews.
• to ad hoc VAT-related questions from clients and team members on various issues.

Requirements:

• Degree in accounting/taxation highly preferred.
• At least 5+ years of proven experience in VAT accounting, with a strong understanding of VAT compliance and the preparation of VAT returns.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Client service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
• Communication skills, capable of explaining complex VAT issues clearly and effectively.
