The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Publications Specialist to lead the planning, development, review, publication, and lifecycle management of technical documentation and information products.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical writing expertise with document-management, information-design, research, quality-assurance, and cross-functional collaboration skills to produce clear, accurate, structured, and maintainable technical publications for internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain technical publication strategies, standards, procedures, and documentation frameworks.
  • Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle for technical manuals, guides, instructions, procedures, specifications, service documentation, and other technical publications.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate technical information from engineering drawings, specifications, design documentation, product data, maintenance records, standards, and subject-matter experts.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, structured, and user-focused documentation.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, product specialists, maintenance teams, technicians, quality teams, and subject-matter experts to obtain and validate technical content.
  • Develop and maintain operating manuals, maintenance manuals, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, service bulletins, technical instructions, user guides, and reference materials.
  • Prepare technical content for products, systems, equipment, software, machinery, infrastructure, or other specialized environments as applicable.
  • Develop documentation structures, information hierarchies, content models, and publication plans.
  • Apply technical-writing principles, controlled language, terminology standards, and documentation best practices.
  • Ensure technical content is clear, concise, consistent, accurate, and appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Review technical source material and identify missing, inconsistent, outdated, or conflicting information.
  • Conduct technical research and coordinate with subject-matter experts to resolve information gaps.
  • Manage technical reviews, approvals, revisions, and publication workflows.
  • Coordinate document reviews across Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Legal, Product, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Track comments, revisions, approvals, action items, and publication status through controlled processes.
  • Establish document-review schedules and ensure publications are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain document version control, revision histories, release records, and publication metadata.
  • Ensure obsolete documents are identified, withdrawn, archived, or replaced appropriately.
  • Manage technical publication change requests and assess their impact on related documentation.
  • Maintain document master lists, publication registers, content inventories, and technical-information databases.
  • Establish and maintain terminology databases, controlled vocabularies, glossaries, style guides, and technical writing standards.
  • Ensure consistent use of product names, technical terminology, abbreviations, symbols, units, and defined terms.
  • Develop reusable content modules and standardized documentation components where appropriate.
  • Apply structured authoring and modular-content principles to improve content reuse and maintainability.
  • Work with document-management, content-management, authoring, publishing, and collaboration systems.
  • Maintain technical publications within approved document-management or content-management platforms.
  • Coordinate publication outputs in formats including PDF, HTML, XML, online help, electronic manuals, and other required formats.
  • Support structured documentation standards and XML-based publishing environments where applicable.
  • Prepare publication-ready layouts, illustrations, tables, diagrams, references, warnings, cautions, notes, and other technical information elements.
  • Coordinate with technical illustrators, graphic designers, engineers, and multimedia specialists to develop supporting visual content.
  • Review technical illustrations, diagrams, screenshots, schematics, and other visual materials for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure documentation follows established formatting, branding, accessibility, and publication standards.
  • Conduct detailed editorial, technical, linguistic, and formatting reviews before release.
  • Perform quality-control checks for accuracy, consistency, completeness, usability, formatting, cross-references, hyperlinks, and document navigation.
  • Verify technical information against approved source documentation and engineering or operational requirements.
  • Ensure safety-critical information, warnings, precautions, limitations, and operating requirements are clearly presented.
  • Support compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, contractual requirements, and organizational documentation policies.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Regulatory teams on documentation compliance and audit requirements.
  • Support audits and inspections by providing controlled technical publications, revision records, approval evidence, and document histories.
  • Manage publication schedules for product launches, engineering changes, maintenance programs, system upgrades, and operational updates.
  • Coordinate documentation deliverables with product development and project milestones.
  • Identify documentation dependencies and ensure related publications are updated consistently.
  • Conduct impact assessments when products, systems, processes, regulations, or technical specifications change.
  • Develop documentation gap analyses and improvement plans.
  • Establish processes for periodic technical-publication reviews and content recertification.
  • Monitor publication performance, user feedback, technical queries, document errors, and revision requirements.
  • Gather feedback from technicians, engineers, customers, operators, maintenance teams, and other document users.
  • Analyze feedback and identify opportunities to improve documentation usability and effectiveness.
  • Improve technical-publication workflows through automation, templates, structured content, content reuse, and digital publishing technologies.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in technical publications, technical writing, documentation management, information development, engineering documentation, or technical content operations, preferably within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, construction, industrial technology, software, telecommunications, or other technically complex environments.

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience developing and managing complex technical publications.
