Job Description
Wood is currently recruiting for Senior Technical Safety Engineer to strengthen our team in Dubai with possible trips to Iraq if the Client required.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety & Loss Prevention engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up.
- Perform Safety screening of project scopes.
- Hands on experience of conducting Hazardous Area Classification, Safety layout Assessment, Emergency escape route assessment.
- Experience in Fire engineering activities like Fire Zone determination, Firewater demand calculations and Firewater network hydraulics.
- Participating and preparing reports for project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required.
- Able to perform Physical Hazard Effects (PHE) modelling and able to review Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
- Experience in conducting F&G mapping.
- Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
- Providing technical support to site as required.
- Producing and reviewing specifications, data sheets, schedules, study reports, and design calculations; ensuring that they conform to engineering quality, competence, and project management systems.
- Attend client meetings and communicate issues with lead engineer as required.
- Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments.
- Thorough awareness of international codes and standards.
- Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
- Must be willing to make occasional visits to Iraq.
Qualifications
- BEng or equivalent with relevant experience
- Chartered Engineer or recognized equivalent experience preferred
- Experience of Concept / FEED / Detail Engineering project phases
- 8-10 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
