We are looking for a motivated and proactive Test Engineer who is eager to learn new technologies and thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment. You will join small, cross-functional Agile teams working under the You Build It, You Run It principle, contributing to end-to-end development and component support.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale e-commerce platform for one of the largest building merchants in Europe. The project focuses on a full redevelopment of a legacy system into a modern, scalable platform with a strong emphasis on UX, responsive web design, and microservices architecture.
The platform aims to eliminate vendor lock-in and leverage a modern open-source stack to deliver the future of e-commerce—featuring personalized user journeys, advanced search capabilities, customer data insights, smart advertising, and a headless CMS for efficient business operations.
Project Overview
Our client is a leading multi-channel retailer of tools and building materials, operating:
- 500+ branches in the UK
- 90+ in the Netherlands
- 23 in France
- 19 in Belgium
Requirements
- Availability to work within UK business hours (08:00 – 17:00)
- 4+ years of experience in integration and API testing
- Solid understanding of microservices and API architecture
- Strong experience in manual testing
- Ability to design and execute manual test scripts
- Experience in writing test plans based on requirements
- Hands-on experience with:
- Test management tools (e.g., TestRail)
- Project tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies
- Experience testing across all stages of the SDLC
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
- Experience defining test strategies and plans for mid-sized projects
- Exposure to cloud environments (GCP)
- Experience in the retail or e-commerce domain
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective testing strategies, tools, and techniques
- Write and maintain test plans and test cases for multiple systems (web, EPOS, warehouse management)
- Maintain and improve QA documentation and processes
- Support testing and release activities across multiple Agile teams
- Validate and reproduce production issues and bugs
- Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure a consistent end-user experience
- Troubleshoot defects and perform root cause analysis
- Monitor QA metrics (test results, defect leakage, etc.) and identify improvements
- Analyze requirements to define test scenarios and edge cases
