Talent IQ is hiring a Senior Unreal Engine & AI Interactive Developer on behalf of our client - a Dubai-based creative technology company delivering immersive, interactive experiences for pavilions, museums, attractions and events across the region, blending real-time 3D, AI, computer vision, LED/projection and sensors into physical spaces.
The Role
Our client needs a Senior Unreal Engine & AI Interactive Developer to build the real-time, AI-driven software behind their attractions: experiences where a camera detects and tracks a visitor's body or face, generative AI transforms their input, and AI-driven characters respond to people in the space.
Reliability matters: these run unattended, in public, day after day.
This is a hands-on, equal-parts strong Unreal Engine development plus applied AI/computer vision role. The candidate will personally architect and build the software end-to-end, from prototype through on-site commissioning, coordinating freelance developers as needed and working closely with the internal creative, hardware and AV teams. Projects are large, multi-zone attractions (often 1,000+ sqm) spanning many real-time and AI-powered builds.
Note: AI/CV work is typically built in Python and integrated into Unreal via streaming (NDI/Spout), sockets or plugins — comfort bridging both worlds is central to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build real-time interactive experiences in Unreal Engine (Blueprints and C++) that run stably in a live, public, always-on environment
- Design and implement AI / computer-vision pipelines (body segmentation and replacement, face detection and overlay, pose / skeletal and hand-gesture tracking) and feed them into real-time content
- Integrate generative-AI, conversational-AI / avatar and object-recognition features into interactive experiences
- Bridge AI and vision systems to Unreal in real time via streaming (NDI/Spout), sockets, or custom plugins, keeping latency low and output stable
- Integrate camera, depth and sensor input plus custom controllers, and synchronise them with on-screen content, multi-display and LED-wall output
- Profile and optimise real-time performance (frame-rate stability, model inference speed, load times and memory) for reliable unattended public operation
- Build prototypes quickly to prove out new AI and interaction ideas, then harden the successful ones into production experiences
- Take part in on-site installation, integration, commissioning, snagging and operator handover, including travel to project sites
- Own the architecture and technical direction, scope and estimate effort, and coordinate freelance / contract developers when a project needs additional capacity
- Maintain clean, documented, version-controlled code and clear as-built technical documentation
Required Skills & Experience
This role requires genuine strength in both real-time development and applied AI / computer vision.
- Experience: 5+ years of professional real-time / interactive development, with a portfolio or showreel demonstrating shipped work
- Unreal: expert Unreal Blueprints and solid C++; comfortable extending engine functionality and debugging at a low level
- AI & computer vision: hands-on experience building computer-vision / AI features: body segmentation, face and pose tracking, gesture recognition: and running models in real time
- AI stack: strong Python with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, plus real-time CV frameworks (MediaPipe, OpenCV, YOLO or similar) and model deployment/optimisation (e.g. ONNX, TensorRT)
- Integration: proven ability to link AI/vision systems and Unreal in real time using NDI/Spout, sockets, shared memory or custom plugins
- Hardware & I/O: camera, depth and sensor input, custom controllers, multi-display / LED-wall output and synchronising content across machines
- Performance: strong grasp of profiling and optimisation across both engine frame rate and model inference for stable, long-running public operation
- Delivery: confident with Git or Perforce; able to work independently, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and direct freelancers to fixed installation deadlines
- Location: based in or willing to relocate to the UAE and work on-site in Dubai, with willingness to travel for installations
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Generative AI in production: diffusion / image and video models, style transfer, real-time or near-real-time generation from visitor input
- Conversational AI and digital humans (LLM integration, speech-to-text / text-to-speech, and avatar or MetaHuman animation)
- TouchDesigner and real-time media tooling (NDI, Spout, Syphon) for prototyping and engine interop
- Prior work on location-based entertainment, theme-park attractions, museums, exhibitions or immersive rooms
- Depth-sensor experience (Azure Kinect, Orbbec, RealSense) and AR frameworks (ARCore / image tracking)
- Familiarity with show-control ecosystems (Crestron, Medialon, disguise, Pixera) and media servers
- Shader / VFX (Niagara), technical art or CGI production familiarity
- Arabic language ability is an advantage but not required
This is a senior, high-ownership role on landmark interactive attractions across the region, with a multidisciplinary team spanning creative, hardware, AV and software. A chance to see your work built into physical spaces that thousands of visitors experience.
If you match the requirements listed above, please apply by sharing your CV and a portfolio of your projects.
