The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Scientist to lead veterinary scientific programs, animal-health research, clinical and laboratory investigations, scientific evaluation, evidence generation, and technical advisory activities.

The ideal candidate will combine strong veterinary expertise with scientific research, analytical, project-management, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities to translate complex animal-health evidence into practical recommendations, research outcomes, products, protocols, and scientifically sound decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement veterinary scientific strategies aligned with organizational research, animal-health, and business objectives.
  • Lead veterinary research programs from study design and protocol development through execution, analysis, reporting, and scientific dissemination.
  • Provide expert veterinary guidance across animal-health, clinical, laboratory, product-development, and operational initiatives.
  • Design and review veterinary research protocols, study plans, clinical investigations, field studies, and scientific assessments.
  • Define research objectives, hypotheses, endpoints, methodologies, sample requirements, and evaluation criteria.
  • Conduct or oversee veterinary clinical assessments and scientific investigations.
  • Evaluate animal health, disease presentation, treatment response, clinical outcomes, and welfare indicators.
  • Develop appropriate study designs for observational, experimental, field, clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory investigations.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, researchers, laboratory scientists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, animal-care professionals, and other subject-matter experts.
  • Review scientific literature and evaluate emerging evidence relevant to animal health, veterinary medicine, diagnostics, therapeutics, nutrition, welfare, and disease prevention.
  • Conduct systematic evidence reviews, literature assessments, and scientific gap analyses where required.
  • Develop scientific hypotheses and identify opportunities for new research and innovation.
  • Analyze veterinary and animal-health data to identify trends, associations, risks, and opportunities.
  • Interpret clinical, laboratory, epidemiological, pathological, diagnostic, and observational data.
  • Work with biostatisticians and data scientists to establish appropriate analytical methodologies.
  • Review statistical analyses and assess the scientific validity and interpretation of study results.
  • Establish data-quality requirements and ensure research data are complete, accurate, traceable, and appropriately documented.
  • Support laboratory and diagnostic investigations related to infectious diseases, non-infectious diseases, pathology, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, or other relevant areas.
  • Evaluate diagnostic methods, laboratory results, assay performance, and scientific evidence.
  • Support disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, epidemiological studies, and emerging animal-health risk assessments.
  • Identify patterns of disease occurrence by species, geography, population, age, environment, exposure, and other relevant factors.
  • Develop animal-health risk assessments and evidence-based mitigation recommendations.
  • Monitor emerging infectious diseases, zoonotic risks, antimicrobial resistance, and other veterinary public-health concerns.
  • Evaluate animal-health products, treatments, interventions, vaccines, diagnostics, nutrition programs, or other veterinary solutions where applicable.
  • Support product development through scientific assessment, veterinary input, clinical evidence generation, and technical review.
  • Review product claims, scientific substantiation, technical documentation, and supporting evidence.
  • Provide veterinary scientific input into product safety, efficacy, quality, and performance assessments.
  • Support clinical and field validation of veterinary products, technologies, and interventions.
  • Establish animal-health monitoring plans and scientifically appropriate outcome measures.
  • Develop protocols for animal observation, clinical assessment, sample collection, diagnostic testing, treatment evaluation, and follow-up.
  • Ensure appropriate standards for animal handling, welfare, biosecurity, sample management, and research integrity.
  • Promote high standards of animal welfare throughout research, clinical, laboratory, and field activities.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in veterinary science, veterinary medicine, animal health, veterinary research, clinical research, epidemiology, laboratory science, animal disease research, or related life-science disciplines, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, animal-health, research, diagnostics, agriculture, livestock, companion-animal, regulatory, or academic environments.

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Advanced knowledge of veterinary medicine, animal health, and animal disease processes.
  • Proven experience designing, managing, or evaluating veterinary research programs.
  • Strong understanding of clinical and field-study methodologies.
  • Experience developing research protocols, study plans, endpoints, and scientific evaluation criteria.
  • Strong ability to interpret veterinary clinical, laboratory, diagnostic, and epidemiological data.
  • Experience conducting or supporting animal-health research and scientific investigations.
  • Strong understanding of research methodology, evidence evaluation, and scientific integrity.
  • Experience working with biostatisticians, epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, and multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Strong scientific literature-review and evidence-assessment capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating veterinary products, diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines, nutrition programs, or animal-health technologies is highly desirable.
