The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. The CBUAE is responsible for promoting monetary and financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure, and the adoption of digital technologies.
The Central Bank of the UAE is seeking to hire an individual who will be responsible for the analytics and infrastructure development for the Reserve & Monetary Management as well as for enhancement in areas of the strategic and tactical asset allocation for the reserve management. It supports the optimisation of the technical and operational infrastructure for the investment and monetary teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the implementation, administration, and ongoing maintenance of front-office trading and market data platforms, including Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and Tradeweb, ensuring high availability, performance, and user enablement.
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated reporting solutions, including data pipelines, scheduled outputs, and executive dashboards, to support timely management reporting.
- Develop and operationalise advanced analytics to generate actionable investment insights and recommendations in support of Reserve and Monetary Management decision-making.
- Lead the technical delivery of department initiatives, including system upgrades, data integration, and automation programs, covering requirements gathering, project planning, testing/UAT, release management, documentation, and post-implementation support.
- Deploy machine learning and AI use cases to identify market trends and enhance forecasting/monitoring capabilities, including hands-on data preparation, feature engineering, model training, validation, and performance monitoring.
- Build analytical tools and models to support strategic and tactical asset allocation, scenario analysis, and portfolio optimisation, ensuring methodological rigor and clear interpretability.
- Promote a data-driven culture by championing analytics adoption, developing user-friendly tools, and coaching stakeholders on effective use of data and insights.
- Provide rapid-turnaround quantitative analysis and data extracts to support urgent requests, emergency briefings, and high-level committee or executive meetings.
- Continuously scan and evaluate emerging trading, analytics, and data technologies, assessing applicability, risks, and value, and recommending enhancements to strengthen departmental capabilities.
Position Specifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field such as Financial Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications in data science or financial engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in financial markets with a deep passion and commitment to building world-class capabilities in advanced analytics to enhance investment decision-making frameworks.
- A keen interest in international economic, monetary, and political developments.
- Experience in managing big data and implementing data science projects to generate insights.
- Experience in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL, along with machine learning libraries, is essential.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools such as Dataiku, Tableau and Power BI.
- Strong expertise in front office functionalities, including pricing and valuation, risk analytics, and market data integration.
- Experience in implementing front office solutions like order management, portfolio management, portfolio performance, and risk analytics solutions. Working experience with Calypso, Bloomberg, and MSCI BarraOne would be an additional advantage.
- Experience in performance attribution and risk models, including testing and reconciliation, would be an added advantage.
- Deep understanding of financial instruments, including fixed income (FI), derivatives (forwards, futures, interest rate swaps), money markets, and equities.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or IFID would be an added advantage.
- Project management experience would be an added advantage.
- Experience in buy-side institutions such as central banks, SWFs, or pension funds would be an added advantage.
