Job Description

Introduction

At Atomionics, we build quantum gravimeters that are set to revolutionize the resource exploration industry. We are looking for a motivated intern to contribute in simulating a moving-base quantum gravimeter.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and improve software implementation of a simulation model for the output of a quantum gravimeter undergoing 6 axis motion.
  2. Determine forces and accelerations experienced by the quantum gravimeter and compare them to those measured by an IMU. Modelling forces and rigid body dynamics: Forces in Inertial and Non inertial coordinate frames, Modelling accelerations due to Rotation and lever arms, and Kinematics in 3D space
  3. Data Processing and Analysis of Signal Characteristics: FFTs, PSDs, Allan deviations (drift analysis) Finding optimal filters and Error propagation
  4. Support the integration of transfer functions into motion libraries to build sensor fusion algorithms.
  5. Analyse differences between the simulation and the experimental data in a set of conditions.

Qualifications

  1. Engineer or physicist with a background in computer science, sensor fusion, signal processing, or related fields
  2. Experienced with modelling of classical mechanics: inertial and non-intertial reference frames, rotating reference frames, Centrifugal and Coriolis accelerations, lever arms
  3. Familiarity with Python: NumPy, SciPy, pandas, visualization packages
  4. Skilled in Root Cause Analysis
  5. Interested in deep technical problem statements and capable of picking things up

Preferable if you have:

  1. Familiarity with sensor fusion fundamentals: Euler angles, quaternions, integration, dead reckoning
  2. Familiarity with foundation of signal analysis such as FFTs, noise analysis
  3. Experienced with motion and localization packages such as Gazebo
  4. Familiarity with modelling in Matlab and simulations
  5. Experience with interfacing an IMU and collecting experimental data
  6. Familiarity with IMU characteristics: sampling rate, noise, bias drift, etc.

What we can offer you

  • A comprehensive immersion into the intricacies of deep tech research, encompassing product development and strategic aspects within a high-growth startup environment
  • A book allowance to help you grow and collectively build the Atomionics library
  • Board games and curry night

Minimum duration of 3 months, preferably 6 months.
