Site Engineer Electrical – Transformers
Experienced Site Engineer specializing in the erection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-capacity power transformers (up to 500 MVA, 380 kV class), including ICTs and nitrogen-filled units. Proven track record of delivering complex projects across domestic and international sites while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Expertise
- Led end-to-end installation, testing, and commissioning of power transformers, ensuring timely project delivery and compliance with technical specifications.
- Conducted advanced diagnostic testing including TTR, winding resistance, capacitance & tan delta, insulation resistance, SFRA/DFRA, and partial discharge testing using CPC 100 and Doble systems.
- Managed vacuuming, oil filling, filtration, sampling, and regeneration, ensuring optimal transformer performance and longevity.
- Performed troubleshooting, maintenance, and failure analysis, including DGA interpretation and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Executed restoration of failed transformers and resolved customer complaints with effective technical solutions.
- Supervised control cable laying, termination, testing, and ensured proper integration with protection and control systems.
- Reviewed and approved inspection and failure reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Planned and executed site activities, including overhauling, erection, and commissioning projects.
- Prepared Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments, and lifting plans, ensuring alignment with client and safety regulations.
- Acted as a Permit Receiver (SABIC certified) and ensured strict adherence to safety protocols during shutdowns and site activities.
- Provided technical leadership to site teams (10–15 technicians), ensuring productivity, quality, and effective communication.
- Managed materials and procurement processes, including PR creation, vendor coordination, and quality-cost optimization.
- Delivered on-site customer training on transformer protection schemes and operational best practices.
