Job Description

Job Summary

The Site Engineer – Fire Fighting is responsible for supervising and coordinating all fire fighting system installation activities at the project site, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, local authority regulations, and international fire protection standards. The role involves close coordination with consultants, subcontractors, procurement, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the successful delivery and commissioning of fire fighting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Execution

  • Supervise the installation of fire fighting systems, including piping networks, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, hose reels, landing valves, hydrants, and clean agent systems.
  • Ensure all installations comply with approved shop drawings, project specifications, and applicable NFPA standards.
  • Monitor daily site activities and ensure work progresses according to the approved project schedule.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and ELV teams to resolve interface and coordination issues.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and project requirements are met.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding fire fighting activities.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in progress meetings and provide updates on site activities.
  • Plan manpower, materials, and equipment requirements to ensure uninterrupted workflow.

Quality Assurance & Commissioning

  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Coordinate pressure testing, flushing, hydrostatic testing, testing & commissioning of fire fighting systems.
  • Prepare snag lists and ensure timely rectification of all observations.
  • Support project handover by preparing as-built drawings and close-out documentation.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all fire fighting installation activities comply with HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, Civil Defense requirements, and project specifications.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain records of inspections, testing, manpower, materials, and site activities.
  • Prepare Inspection Requests (IRs), Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), RFIs, and technical documentation.
  • Report project progress, delays, and technical issues to the Project Manager.

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Engineer – Fire Fighting within construction or MEP contracting companies.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial, residential, mixed-use, or governmental projects.
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site in the New Administrative Capital, Cairo, Egypt.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Fire Fighting Systems, including:
    • Automatic Sprinkler Systems
    • Fire Hose Reel Systems
    • Fire Hydrant Systems
    • Landing Valve Systems
    • Fire Pumps
    • Clean Agent Systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, CO₂)
    • Wet & Dry Riser Systems
    • Foam Fire Suppression Systems (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and fire fighting layouts.
  • Experience with pressure testing, flushing, testing & commissioning, and project handover.
