The Site Leader will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional swimming lessons while leading the growth and development of their designated site. This role combines hands-on coaching with leadership responsibilities, including managing and mentoring staff, ensuring lessons are delivered in line with Swim England standards, and building strong partnerships with schools, parents and the Aquatics Leadership Team. A key focus of the role is to grow participation and develop young swimmers, providing them with the skills, confidence and pathway needed to progress into our Squads Programme and School Swim Squads.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Delivery:
- Deliver high-quality swimming lessons to children at various stages of development, ensuring all lessons are engaging, safe and educational.
- Follow and implement the Swim England programme to guarantee the development of swimmers skills and technique.
- Ensure that all lessons are aligned with Cognita ENRICH ME Aquatics overall mission, objectives and scheme of work.
Leadership and Staff Management:
- Lead and manage a team of swimming teachers, ensuring that all staff are delivering lessons to the highest standard.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Learn to Swim site.
- Provide support and mentorship to other staff members, offering feedback and guidance to help them develop professionally.
- Foster a positive and motivating environment for both staff and swimmers, promoting teamwork and high standards.
Communication and Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with school staff, parents, and the local school community to enhance communication and collaboration.
- Ensure that feedback about swimmers progress is regularly communicated to parents and school staff.
- Act as the main point of contact for the school/site and effectively manage all communication related to swimming lessons.
Site Growth and Development:
- Take responsibility for growing and developing the swimming programme at your site, aiming to increase participation and build a pipeline of swimmers for the squad programme.
- Collaborate with the Learn to Swim Manager and Aquatics Leadership Team to plan and implement strategies for site growth and improvement.
- Attend school and community events to engage with the wider community.
Quality Assurance and Standards:
- Ensure that all lessons and activities are delivered in line with Cognita ENRICH ME Aquatics policies and procedures.
- Be accountable for maintaining high standards of teaching, safety and swimmer progression at your site.
- Support in regular quality assurance checks and audits, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Collaboration with the Aquatics Leadership Team:
- Work closely with the Learn to Swim Manager, Director of Aquatics, Operations Manager, and Quality and Training Manager to ensure consistency and alignment across the programme.
- Regularly attend leadership meetings to contribute to the development of the overall aquatics programme.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of swimmer attendance, lesson plans and assessments.
- Ensure that all administrative tasks, including staff scheduling, swimmer feedback, and lesson reporting, are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor and make movements at the required stages of the year.
- Deliver a quality and effective transition from Term to Term with a smooth roll over and effective communication to make it easy for parents and to retain swimmers.
About You
Essential
- Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years experience as a swimming teacher, with a strong understanding of teaching methodologies and swimming techniques.
- Previous experience managing a venue, swimming programme and staff.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with parents, school staff and swimmers.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Knowledge of Swim England standards and the ability to implement them within swimming lessons.
- A passion for developing young swimmers and helping them achieve their full potential.
- Valid driving licence (subject to UAE licensing requirements).
Desirable
- Experience working within a school environment and with young children.
- Experience growing participation and developing a successful swimming programme.
- Additional swimming, coaching or leadership qualifications.
