Job Description

Install, terminate, label, test, and document CAT6 structured cabling, cabinets/racks, patch panels, and related physical network infrastructure, ensuring standards compliance and clean as-built handover. Install and support IP CCTV endpoints, configure cameras and NVRs, and ensure recording, retention, and operational testing meet requirements. Build and maintain the outside plant pathway (duct bank, handholes) and install, terminate, test, and document fiber backbone connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install cable trays/conduits, pull CAT6, terminate on faceplates and patch panels, and ensure proper labeling/documentation.
  • Perform cable testing and produce certification/test reports (TIA/EIA-568B) and resolve test failures (re-termination/repull).
  • Prepare and organize cabinets: placement/anchoring, cable management, PDU mounting/arrangement (as assigned).
  • Assist with physical installation of switches/routers/APs (mounting, patching, power-up) and basic troubleshooting with the Network Engineer.
  • Maintain site documentation: port maps, labeling diagrams, as-built photos, and handover packs. Install IP cameras, set mounting positions/angles, and perform final alignment and validation.
  • Configure camera network settings (static IPs), integrate with the data network, and coordinate VLAN/PoE needs with the Network Engineer.
  • Install/configure NVRs, HDDs, users/roles, recording schedules, and retention policies; ensure secure credential handling and handover.
  • Execute CCTV operational testing and support commissioning sign-off and user training/handover.
  • Preventive maintenance: camera health checks, storage/recording checks, firmware updates (approved), and incident troubleshooting.
  • Support OSP activities: duct bank/trenching coordination, handhole termination, pathway preparation, and site documentation/photos.
  • Pull and manage armored fiber cable, perform termination/connectors, and install fiber patch panels with pigtails.
  • Perform fiber continuity/loss testing and produce certification reports; troubleshoot faults (breaks, high loss, bad connectors).
  • Assist with fiber integration to switching (SFP installation and link validation) and backbone testing with the Network Engineer.
  • Note standards awareness: fiber testing per IEC 61280-1-1.

Required skills / qualifications:

  • 2+ years in structured cabling (CAT6), patch panels, faceplates, cable management.
  • Hands-on testing experience (Fluke or equivalent) and producing test reports.
  • Basic networking knowledge (patching, VLAN awareness, rack standards).
  • Physically fit for field work; able to work on ladders/ceilings.
  • 2+ years in IP CCTV (Hikvision preferred), NVR setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable with IP addressing/subnet basics, PoE, and switch port testing.
  • Understanding of access control to CCTV systems (users/roles, least privilege).
  • 2+ years fiber installation/termination/testing (OTDR/power meter experience preferred).
  • Experience in OSP environments (ducts/handholes/trenching coordination).
  • Strong documentation discipline (fiber routing, splice/termination records, labels).
