Position Summary:
The LSU Manager provides strategic leadership for all slab-on-grade (SOG) and Laser Screed operations across the organization. This role is accountable for setting group-wide standards, driving innovation, managing key external partnerships, and supporting business growth through technical excellence and operational consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the strategic direction for Laser Screed and SOG operations across all business units and countries.
- Standardize methodologies, equipment usage, mix designs, and finishing techniques to ensure consistent slab quality and performance.
- Develop and enforce group-wide policies, procedures, and KPIs for SOG activities.
- Lead investment planning for new equipment, consumables, and advanced accessories (e.g., 3D control systems).
- Oversee the allocation, maintenance, calibration, and performance of all Laser Screed units in the group.
- Coordinate with PMs, construction leads, and procurement to align SOG resource availability with project needs.
- Support project teams in planning, mobilization, and sequencing of SOG activities using laser-screed technology.
- Coordinate with Workforce Development Lead for training and certification programs for screed operators, finishers, and support crew.
- Define crew structures, manpower norms, and deployment strategies to enhance productivity and reduce reliance on subcontracted SOG work.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and introducing new screeding technologies, concrete additives, and placement techniques.
- Lead root cause analysis and improvement actions on projects with substandard performance.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for country-level teams encountering operational issues or complex slab conditions.
- Support in preconstruction and constructability reviews for major SOG packages.
- Manage relationships with external partners (design consultants, technology providers, specialist subcontractors), including selection, onboarding, performance review, and ongoing collaboration to ensure best-in-class solutions and innovation.
- Submit group-wide reports on SOG progress, equipment condition, and workforce capability.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including lean deployment, layout accuracy enhancements, and digital progress tracking.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to provide technical expertise, showcase SOG capabilities in client presentations, and contribute to winning strategies for industrial and commercial projects requiring high-performance slab solutions.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree in Construction Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications in concrete technology, SOG systems, or equipment operation are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 1015 years of experience in concrete works, industrial flooring, or slab-on-grade construction.
- At least 5 years of experience in leading Laser Screed operations or managing specialized concrete placement teams.
- Proven track record in managing multi-country or multi-business-unit operations is highly preferred.
- Experience in developing operational standards, training frameworks, and improvement initiatives.
