About noon
We're building an ecosystem of digital products and services that power everyday life across the Middle East—fast, scalable, and deeply customer-centric. Our mission is to deliver to every door every day. We want to redefine what technology can do in this region, and we're looking for a Backend Engineer level 2 (SDE2) who can help us move even faster.
noon's mission: Every door, every day.
What you'll do:
Team noon has some of the fastest, smartest, and hardest-working people we have encountered. With a young, aggressive, and talented team, we are driving major missions forward.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer level 2 (SDE2) to join our Noon Food engineering team, working on systems that operate under high throughput, real-time constraints, and intensive workloads. You will build and scale backend services that power critical decision-making, handle large volumes of data and events, and maintain low latency and high reliability in production environments.
- Develop clean and effective engineering solutions to our business problems
- Design fault-tolerant, highly available distributed systems
- Be able to translate requirements into bug-free working code
- Mentor and lead more junior members of the engineering team
- Develop APIs and services that handle real-time decisioning and high concurrency
- Work with event-driven and asynchronous systems
- Integrate with external partners/APIs.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with our core stack (Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, MySQL)
- Familiarity with GCP-native data solutions such as Bigtable, Spanner, and BigQuery
- Strong SQL skills with confidence in writing and optimizing queries
- 5 years of relevant backend engineering experience
- Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, including knowing when to automate vs. handle tasks manually
- Hands-on experience building and working with distributed systems
Who will excel
- We're looking for people with high standards, who understand that hard work matters.
- You need to be relentlessly resourceful and operate with a deep bias for action.
- We need people with the courage to be fiercely original.
- noon is not for everyone; readiness to adapt, pivot, and learn is essential.
