We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (System) with strong Database Administration expertise to support and maintain enterprise-scale systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, security, and performance of critical database environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, monitor, and maintain database systems and infrastructure.
- Manage database performance tuning, optimization, capacity planning, and health monitoring.
- Perform database backup, restoration, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, alerts, and service requests within established SLAs.
- Develop and maintain SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and automation scripts.
- Support database design, development, and data modelling activities.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams to resolve issues and implement changes.
- Review daily operational reports and proactively identify potential risks or performance issues.
- Ensure database environments comply with operational and security standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
- Experience administering DB2 (v10+), Oracle Database (v11+) and/or PostgreSQL (v14+).
- Exposure to SQL Server and MySQL will be an advantage.
- Strong experience in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Experience in data modelling using ERWIN or equivalent tools.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and shell scripting.
- Experience with cloud database platforms and environments.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, AIX, and Solaris operating systems.
- Knowledge of fare collection systems, EMV, or PCI DSS will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
