Senior AI Engineer —FinTech / Payments

**Strategic first engineering hire | Hands-on GenAI / LLM leadership**
Our client, a fast-growing, fintech/payments business in Dubai is hiring its first senior engineering / AI hire.
This is not a narrow build a chatbot role. The company is looking for someone who can work directly with the C-suite, look across the business department by department, and identify where AI, automation, data, and engineering can materially improve internal operations, decision-making, efficiency, and scalability.
You will be the person shaping the company's AI and engineering direction from the ground up: strategic enough to advise leadership, hands-on enough to build production systems yourself, and senior enough to grow and mentor a team over time.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and shipping production-grade LLM applications across internal operations and the payments platform
- Building RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, tool-calling systems, copilots, and automation layers
- Assessing internal departments and identifying opportunities for process improvement, AI adoption, and operational transformation
- Creating evaluation frameworks, golden datasets, regression suites, and measurement loops for LLM systems
- Engineering for reliability, including guardrails, output validation, prompt-injection defences, structured fallbacks, and observability
- Optimising cost, latency, context engineering, caching, model routing, and inference performance
- Working closely with security, risk, and compliance around PII, data residency, auditability, and regulated payments requirements
- Leading architecture decisions and setting the technical foundations for a team that will grow around you
Candidate requirements:
- 5+ years in software engineering
- 2+ years shipping LLM / GenAI systems into production
- Strong Python engineering background
- Deep experience with LLM orchestration, RAG, embeddings, vector stores, retrieval quality, chunking, and evaluation
- Strong understanding of transformer architectures, tokenisation, context windows, and practical model trade-offs
- Production cloud experience across AWS or GCP, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and observable services
- A strategic mindset: someone who can understand business problems, challenge assumptions, and turn opportunities into working technical solutions
- Fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated / compliance-heavy domain - beneficial.
