Role Purpose
The Lead Solution Architect - Data owns the data architecture for the airport program, spanning operational data, integration data, analytics, data governance and data protection across the airport ecosystem.
The role leads data design and standards, ensuring data is well-modelled, trustworthy, secure and available to power airport operations, decision-making and the passenger journey.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture
- Own the data architecture - conceptual/logical/physical models, data flows and platforms.
- Define data standards, master/reference data, integration data and analytics architecture.
- Design data platforms (warehouse/lake/streaming) and operational data stores (e.g. AODB data).
Governance & Protection
- Establish data governance, quality, lineage and stewardship.
- Embed data protection, privacy and compliance into designs.
- Ensure data resilience, availability and performance for operational use.
Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and mentor data architects/analysts; govern data design quality.
- Support estimation, planning and risk for the data domain.
- Engage business, analytics and operational stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Data architecture: Extensive experience in data architecture on large, complex program.
- Modelling & platforms: Strong data modelling and experience with data platforms (warehouse, lake, streaming) and cloud.
- Governance: Experience with data governance, quality, lineage and master data.
- Protection: Understanding of data protection, privacy and compliance.
- Leadership & communication: Ability to lead a team and engage stakeholders.
Desirable
- Knowledge of airport operational data (AODB) and aviation analytics use cases.
- Data/cloud certifications (e.g. Azure/AWS data, DAMA).
- Experience in critical-infrastructure or 24/7 environments.
- Exposure to MSI operating models.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Data, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Data and/or cloud certifications strongly preferred.
