About you -- experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a design-related discipline
- Bachelor s degree AND/OR equivalent training/professional work experience in one of the following areas or a related field - Library Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Cognitive Psychology, Graphic Design, Visual Communications
- 3+ years proficiency in rapid wire-framing and prototyping tools, with strong preference for experience in Figma
- Technical knowledge of UI frameworks (eg: Angular)
- A portfolio demonstrating your experience creating great user-centered designs
- Adept in the design and documentation of complex interfaces
- Expertise in modern visual and interactive product design, specifically modern web technologies
- Solid experience and competency performing and analyzing usability research
It would be great if you also had...
- Proven ability to effectively interact and collaborate in a cross-discipline and creative team comprised of users, user experience designers, product managers, developers and executive leaders
- Experience defining and maintaining a UI design systems and patterns
- Experience supporting the visual design practice on the team, including conducting design reviews and guiding the evolution of product design systems,
- Current or prior experience working in the Academic Research Publishing space
- Expertise in accessibility standards (W3C WAI guidelines)
- Basic understanding of the capabilities and limitations of web technologies (HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects
What will you be doing in this role
- Identify user needs and requirements by working closely with internal and external stakeholders
- Translate requirements into highly usable, efficient and delightful user interface designs:
- Design and specify product experience concepts using iterative design techniques, including persona creation, journey mapping, customer research and usability testing
- Participate in design and implementation reviews
- Create wireframes, prototypes, information architecture, pattern libraries, standards and guidelines
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and identify additional research needs as well as effectively communicate research findings
- Specify design and interaction requirements for development teams
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure consistent and standardized designs across our products
- Maintain and enhance our product design systems, effectively collaborating with development teams to bring designs to life in our end products
- Plan and manage time appropriately to deliver high quality work on time
