About the Role
SEN Teacher - August 2026 start. Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons and interventions tailored to the individual needs of students with special educational needs, aligning with curriculum standards and IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals.
Responsibilities
- Teach and support students with a range of learning needs, including but not limited to autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies, assistive technology, and adaptive resources to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress through individualized targets, observations, and specialized assessments; provide timely feedback to students, parents, and relevant staff.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to implement holistic support plans and ensure consistency in approach.
- Develop, review, and update IEPs in partnership with parents, caregivers, and the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes self-esteem, independence, and social integration.
- Train and guide teaching assistants and mainstream teachers in strategies to support SEN learners in inclusive settings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, interventions, and IEPs in compliance with school policies.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and parent-teacher conferences to support student success and well-being.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., Teaching License) with additional certification or training in Special Educational Needs (e.g., SENCO, ASD Specialist).
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in an SEN setting; international experience is advantageous.
- Proven knowledge of SEN strategies, IEP development, and assistive technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
