The Role

We are seeking Special Inspectors – Passive Fire Protection to join our UAE and KSA teams.

The role will focus on site inspection and verification of passive fire protection systems to ensure compliance with approved designs, tested systems, applicable codes and standards, manufacturer requirements, and AHJ requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of firestopping, facade, perimeter fire containment, fireproofing, fire doors, and other passive fire protection systems.
• Verify installations against approved drawings, specifications, tested/listed systems, and manufacturer installation guidelines.
• Identify non-compliances, installation deficiencies, and deviations from approved systems.
• Prepare clear, technically defensible inspection reports supported by appropriate site evidence.
• Review relevant drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, specialist installers, and project teams to close inspection observations.
• Support testing, commissioning, authority inspections, and project close-out activities where required.
• Perform inspections in accordance with Butler Engineering's ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation and inspection procedures.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architectural.
• Demonstrated site experience inspecting Passive Fire Protection systems.
• Good understanding of firestopping, fireproofing, fire doors, and related installation requirements.
• Familiarity with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, SBC, IBC, NFPA and applicable tested/listed systems such as UL or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, listed systems, and technical documentation.
• Strong observational, analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• Experience working within an ISO/IEC 17020 inspection environment or recognised passive fire protection inspection certification is an advantage.
• UAE project experience and familiarity with Civil Defence/AHJ requirements are preferred.
