About the Role
The Senior Interior Architect / Designer (Site Based) will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of interior design projects throughout the construction and fit-out phases. Acting as the primary interior design representative on site, this role will ensure that the approved design vision is executed accurately while coordinating effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and the wider project team.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical and construction expertise, with proven experience delivering complex interior architecture and design projects from concept through to handover. The role requires a proactive and solutions-oriented professional capable of working independently, resolving site-related challenges, and maintaining the highest standards of design quality, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Technical Oversight
- Protect and maintain the approved design vision throughout the construction process.
- Review and interpret design documentation to ensure successful implementation on site.
- Provide technical design guidance and solutions to contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Review shop drawings, technical submissions, material samples, and mock-ups to ensure compliance with project requirements and design intent.
- Resolve technical design issues while maintaining design quality and project objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, materials, finishes, and construction methodologies.
Site Delivery & Construction Administration
- Act as the lead Interior Design representative on site.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship quality, and compliance with approved design documentation.
- Identify and resolve design and construction-related issues in a timely manner.
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), contractor queries, and technical submissions.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and client representatives to facilitate successful project delivery.
Project Delivery
- Ensure successful delivery of interior design packages within agreed project timelines and quality standards.
- Proactively identify design, quality, and programme risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and project teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Provide regular project updates and progress reports to senior leadership.
- Contribute to project planning and delivery strategies.
- Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and client requirements.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and inclusive working environment.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Mentor and support junior designers and technical team members where appropriate.
- Share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices across the wider team.

Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Attend client, consultant, and project meetings independently or alongside senior leadership.
- Communicate confidently and professionally with all stakeholders.
- Deliver a high standard of client service and contribute to long-term client relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership and relevant industry certifications are advantageous.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5–10 years of professional experience in interior design or interior architecture projects.
- Proven experience delivering projects through construction, fit-out, completion, and handover stages.
- Extensive site-based experience on large-scale commercial, workplace, hospitality, mixed-use, retail, or high-end development projects.
- Strong understanding of interior construction detailing, specifications, materials, and fit-out processes.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing shop drawings, material submissions, mock-ups, and contractor documentation.
- Proven ability to manage design implementation during construction phases.
- Experience identifying and resolving complex construction and site-related challenges.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance processes, inspections, snagging, and handover procedures.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Experience
- Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East region.
- Experience on large-scale luxury, mixed-use, hospitality, commercial, workplace, or retail developments.
- Familiarity with local authority requirements, building regulations, and industry standards within the GCC region.
