Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • MMUP Grade A certified engineer preferred.

Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in piping/mechanical analysis software such as CAESARII.
  • Skilled in drafting software, especially AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D modelling of piping systems (desirable).
  • Strong command of the latest mechanical design tools and engineering software.
  • Ability to resolve complex technical challenges within the mechanical engineering discipline and in coordination with adjacent disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with fluency in English.
  • Strong teamwork, stakeholder coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and close multiple tasks within deadlines while handling urgent, unscheduled activities.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in large buildings, infrastructure, and civil projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards and/or QatarEnergy standards relevant to mechanical and piping engineering.
  • Proven experience in managing time, cost, and quality within multiproject engineering environments.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as the discipline engineer responsible for delivering highquality mechanical technical services.
  • Conduct concept development, engineering studies, and designs, and prepare engineering documentation in compliance with approved standards and procedures.
  • Review, verify, and sign off on technical designs, drawings, and contractor bids as per approved discipline standards.
  • Deliver engineering services in a timely manner aligned with project schedules.
  • Provide expert support on mechanical engineering matters throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities of mechanical engineering teams supporting project execution, including reviewing execution methodologies and strategies.
  • Support the Discipline Head/Lead in managing QatarEnergy mechanical engineering standards and contributing to standardization and technical assurance activities.
  • Approve or endorse technical deviations, waivers, and variations related to standards, guidelines, codes, and engineering practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, process safety, and general safety engineering requirements.
  • Support knowledge transfer and skill development, including structured training and guidance for developing Qatari engineers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering designs and ensure clarity and comprehensiveness of project work scopes.
  • Review and approve method statements prepared by contractors and liaise with them to resolve technical queries.
  • Develop, update, and track schedules for internal engineering activities, and contribute to FEED/EPIC scheduling and project delivery.
  • Evaluate technical bid packages to ensure full compliance with project scope and standards.
  • Assess and approve new vendors proposed during project phases.
  • Ensure the technical integrity and safety of all mechanical designs.
  • Perform duties independently with minimal supervision; work outputs are not subject to thirdparty design checks.
  • Evaluate and recommend the technical suitability of tenderers for mechanical/piping engineering scopes.
  • Review and assess requested deviations from company and international standards and codes of practice.
  • Support Qatari development initiatives by ensuring proper training, mentorship, and progression of Qatari nationals to maximize local talent contribution.
