We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Testing & Commissioning Manager – (Wind Turbine Specialist), to join our team,to be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.This position is responsible for the planning, execution, coordination, and technical assurance of commissioning activities for Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) in utility-scale wind power projects. The role ensures that mechanical, electrical, control, protection and grid-interface systems of WTGs are commissioned safely, operate reliably, and fully comply with OEM requirements, statutory regulations, and grid codes prior to handover.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Engineering & Pre-Commissioning Planning
• Review and provide inputs to engineering team to take care of engineering itself based on experience.
o Grid compliance and WTG controller limits
o Machine specific challenges faced if any
• Participate in FAT review of WTG control and protection systems (where applicable).
• Develop WTG commissioning procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate commissioning sequence planning with EPC, OEM, and grid operator.
B. Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Coordination
• Supervise and verify correct completion of:
o Mechanical erection, torquing, alignment, and lubrication
o Electrical installation – LV, MV, transformers, grounding systems
• Ensure readiness of auxiliary systems:
o Pitch and yaw drives
o Hydraulic and lubrication systems
o Emergency and service power supplies
C. Electrical Energization
• Lead pre-energization checks including:
o Insulation resistance tests
o Grounding continuity
o Phase sequence and voltage checks
• Coordinate transformer energization and LV/MV energization.
• Execute first grid synchronization and progressive power ramp-up.
• Ensure safety compliance during live tests and rotating machinery operation.
D. Control, Protection & Grid Compliance
• Validate WTG controller parameters as per grid code and PPC philosophy.
• Coordinate LVRT / HVRT, frequency ride-through, and reactive capability tests.
• Verify pitch-based power regulation and ramp-rate control.
• Confirm correct response to curtailment, trip, and fault conditions.
E. Trial Operation & Handover
• Support trial run, availability tests, and performance acceptance.
• Review SCADA data, alarms, and event logs.
• Close commissioning punch points and support COD documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree – Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
• 12–15 years of WTG commissioning experience.
• OEM commissioning authorization strongly preferred.
• Certified Engineer.
