Overview Of The Role:

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role within the Finance Shared Service Center, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of statutory financial reporting. This role is responsible for preparing financial statements, managing SAP financial data, overseeing general ledger reconciliations, and supporting audit and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant partners closely with internal finance teams, auditors, and business units to ensure timely reporting, strong financial controls, and adherence to IFRS and local GAAP standards.

What You Will Do:

Statutory Financial Reporting

  • Extract and prepare the Trial Balance (TB) from SAP, ensuring all balances are accurate, complete, and fully supported.
  • Perform detailed TB mapping to financial statement line items in line with IFRS, local GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal chart-of-accounts structures.
  • Prepare full statutory financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and related disclosures.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper classification across all financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and ensure timely submission to relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies, providing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.

SAP Financial Systems & Data Integrity

  • Extract financial data from SAP to prepare statutory schedules, audit tie-outs, and Trial Balance reconciliations.
  • Reconcile SAP outputs with the General Ledger and sub-ledgers, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure data integrity by validating SAP reports against source transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Provide auditors with clear, well-structured SAP reports and explanations to support audit efficiency and compliance.

General Ledger Reconciliations & Controls

  • Prepare and enhance monthly GL reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and meaningful analysis.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to obtain required inputs for proper account reconciliation.
  • Identify trends, risks, and control gaps, providing actionable insights to strengthen financial controls.
  • Standardize reconciliation schedules and ensure adherence to quality review processes.
  • Partner with business unit finance teams to discuss findings and drive resolution of identified issues.
  • Ensure all accounting activities comply with IFRS/IAS and Al-Futtaim Group accounting policies.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

  • Review and improve accounting entries based on agreed principles and guidelines.
  • Identify and process reclassification entries, cost allocations, and other required adjustments.
  • Submit accurate financial data monthly to support group consolidation through the BPC tool.
  • Coordinate closely with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audit requirements.

Intercompany & Related Party Accounting

  • Review intercompany and related party balances and identify mismatches.
  • Collaborate with business unit finance teams to resolve intercompany discrepancies efficiently.

Required Skills To Be Successful:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards with hands-on IFRS/IAS experience.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and the impact of accounting entries on P&L, Cash Flow, and Balance Sheet.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools such as MS Excel and Power BI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in accounting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 35 years of experience in a similar accounting role with hands-on IFRS exposure.
  • Strong experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Mandatory audit experience.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a strong team player in a fast-paced environment.
