Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural steel inspections and prepare detailed reports to verify that scheduled and unscheduled works comply with applicable regulations, standards, and the Dar QA Program.
  • Capable to review steel shop drawings, materials & all related quality procedures.
  • Ensure inspection checklists and inspection frequencies are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager/Resident Engineer. Develop and maintain a clear inspection plan and ensure all completed checklists, reports, and recommendations are properly documented for record and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure contractors and subcontractors adhere to safe working practices, including compliance with Permit to Work systems and Dar Standard Operating Procedures at all times.
  • Inspect on-site and off-site materials intended for project use and coordinate field and laboratory testing to verify compliance with specifications and suitability.
  • Liaise with the Resident Engineer to support the effective implementation of quality management systems and site supervision activities.
  • Attend site technical coordination meetings to review contractor submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, and construction-related matters, ensuring all required NOCs, permits, and design approvals are available prior to execution.
  • Identify quality deficiencies and raise Non-Conformance Notices (NCNs), Site Inspection Notices (SINs), and related reports in coordination with the Resident Engineer.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor method statements and provide comments. Monitor progress against the approved work program, review operation and maintenance manuals, and participate in final inspections for project completion and handover.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Senior Engineer.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certification in welding or steel inspection is preferred.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of experience in structural steel inspection or related construction activities.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel works, welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Experience in infrastructure or large-scale building projects.
