Role Overview:

The Steel Structures Engineer (PMC) will be responsible for overseeing design reviews, technical evaluations, and construction coordination of structural steel works. The role requires strong expertise in BIM/Revit, design validation, and quality assurance to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. The engineer will act as a key liaison between design teams, contractors, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality and efficient project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

1. Design Review & Quality Assurance

  • Review and evaluate structural steel drawings using Revit/BIM tools.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and standards.
  • Identify design inconsistencies and potential risks at early stages.

2. Technical Evaluation

  • Review and verify steel calculations prepared by others, particularly for supporting systems related to mechanical and electrical works.
  • Validate engineering methodologies, assumptions, and load considerations.

3. Submittals & Shop Drawing Review

  • Assess material submittals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Review shop drawings for accuracy and alignment with approved designs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, fabricators, and contractors to resolve technical discrepancies.

4. Construction Coordination

  • Attend site coordination meetings to align design intent with execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (architectural, structural, and MEP) to resolve clashes.
  • Monitor fabrication and installation processes for quality and compliance.

5. BIM Management & Collaboration

  • Utilize Revit/BIM for model development, clash detection, and coordination.
  • Maintain and update BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support collaboration between design and construction teams using BIM platforms.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare technical reports, design review summaries, and inspection documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of approvals, revisions, and coordination activities.
  • Provide input on risks, progress, and compliance to management.

Requirements:

  • 47 years of proven professional experience in structural steel engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit/BIM for design review and coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing structural designs and calculations.
  • Proven ability in reviewing material submittals and shop drawings.
  • Exposure to construction activities including coordination, installation, and fabrication.
