PURPOSE OF DUTY:
To ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, utensils, and back-of-house areas by following high standards of sanitation. The Steward plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations by maintaining an organized and efficient working environment that aligns with the outlet's premium brand and standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans using approved cleaning agents and techniques.
- Operate dishwashing machines and ensure they are cleaned and maintained regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, ceilings, drains, and garbage areas.
- Dispose of waste and garbage as per hygiene and environmental regulations.
- Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries; check for cleanliness of storage areas.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals in compliance with safety protocols.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and report any stock shortages to the Head Steward.
- Follow HACCP and municipality guidelines regarding hygiene, sanitation, and food safety.
- Support culinary staff during busy periods by assisting in basic tasks such as moving supplies or equipment.
- Maintain personal hygiene and wear appropriate uniform and protective equipment.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or assigned.
JOB ROLE SPECIFICATIONS:
Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic Food Safety & Hygiene Certification is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Steward or similar role in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or caf.
- Prior experience in a luxury hospitality or fine dining environment is desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to chemical usage and kitchen operations.
- Basic understanding of spoken English; Arabic is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Must be flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to work in hot, humid, and wet environments (kitchen areas).
