Job Description

A Store Manager (often referred to as a Central Stores Manager or Warehouse Manager) is responsible for the systematic oversight of materials, tools, and plant equipment essential for project execution. This role focuses on supporting active construction sites through rigorous inventory control and logistical coordination.

Core Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Asset Management: Oversee daily operations of central and site stores, including receiving, inspecting, and issuing materials such as spare parts, consumables, and civil/MEP items.
  • Stock Control: Track inventory movements, conduct physical counts, and reconcile variances to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams to align material availability with project milestones.
  • Cost Management: Monitor operational expenses, manage aging stock costs, and prepare warehouse budgets.
  • System Integrity: Manage transactions within ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Tally) to maintain accurate digital records of all stock.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies within the store, ensuring proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Personnel Supervision: Lead and mentor a multi-national team of storekeepers, helpers, and drivers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of construction materials (Civil, MEP), plant tools, and heavy machinery spare parts.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and MS Office (Excel) is typically mandatory.
  • Experience: Most senior roles require 1015 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity within a main contracting or developer environment.
  • Soft Skills: High level of communication for internal stakeholder management and the ability to work under high pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
