Job Description

1. Generic Accountability

  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming goods and materials.
  • Organize and maintain inventory storage areas.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory records.
  • Maintain accurate inventory documentation and records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to fulfil stock requests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable store environment.

2. Specific Accountability

  • Verify accuracy of incoming shipments and inspect goods condition.
  • Unpack, label, and store goods in designated locations.
  • Update inventory systems to reflect stock movements and balances.
  • Generate reports on stock levels and inventory movements.
  • Process internal stock requests and external orders.
  • Coordinate with purchasing for stock replenishment.
  • Conduct stock audits and investigate discrepancies.
  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce loss and improve efficiency.
  • Perform routine checks on storage equipment.
  • Support development and improvement of inventory management strategies.

3. Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Comply with all company supply chain policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to inventory control standards and documentation requirements.

4. Day-to-Day Operations

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments.
  • Unpack and verify goods accuracy.
  • Store items in assigned locations.
  • Update inventory records and systems.
  • Prepare items for internal distribution and stock requests.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for deliveries and orders.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store.
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding stock availability.
  • Prepare inventory status reports.

5. Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Comply with all safety, quality, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment in the storage area.

6. Related Assignments

  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures.
  • Coordinate with finance for inventory valuation and reporting.
  • Support implementation of computerized inventory systems.
  • Assist in forecasting stock requirements and demand planning.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve inventory efficiency.

6. Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification. A diploma or certification in inventory management or supply chain is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as a Storekeeper or in a similar inventory control role.
  • Strong knowledge of storekeeping procedures and inventory control practices.

Experience

  • Previous hands-on experience in warehouse or store operations.
  • Experience in receiving, storing, and issuing materials in a structured inventory system.
  • Familiarity with inventory reconciliation and stock auditing processes.

Skills

  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and related software.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and efficiently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal departments and suppliers.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items when required.
