Are you an experienced stores and materials professional with a strong understanding of inventory control, material handling, and construction site operations

We are looking for a Stores Controller who can manage day-to-day site stores operations, ensuring materials are properly received, inspected, stored, issued, protected, and accurately recorded while supporting project requirements without unnecessary delay or loss.

As a Stores Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining effective stores operations, accurate stock records, material traceability, and safe storage practices across our project sites.

You will work closely with the Stores, Procurement, Logistics, and Project teams to ensure materials are available when required, properly controlled, and handled in line with company procedures and HSE requirements.

About Your Team

Reporting to the Contract Stores Manager / Stores Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and managing site stores operations, including material receipt, storage, issuance, stock reconciliation, replenishment, and delivery coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Material Receipt, Storage & Issuance

• Implement and manage material delivery plans based on site conditions and requirements
• Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials against purchase orders and delivery notes
• Ensure materials are stored safely and appropriately to prevent damage, deterioration, or loss
• Issue materials only against authorized requisitions while maintaining full traceability
• Manage tool issuance records, including identification of responsible personnel
• Coordinate material deliveries, offloading, and laydown activities with site teams

Inventory & Stock Control

• Maintain accurate stock records and material movement documentation
• Monitor minimum stock levels and coordinate replenishment requirements
• Conduct regular stock counts and inventory reconciliation
• Prepare monthly stock-taking and held stock value reports
• Monitor and control damaged, excess, obsolete, returned, or quarantined materials
• Ensure stock discrepancies are identified, investigated, and properly recorded

Stores Safety & Housekeeping

• Maintain stores and operating areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
• Ensure materials are handled and stored in accordance with safe working practices
• Enforce applicable HSE requirements within stores operations
• Support safe coordination of lifting, offloading, and material handling activities

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records for material receipt, issue, transfer, and return
• Ensure delivery notes, requisitions, stock records, and supporting documents are properly maintained
• Prepare and maintain stores reports and inventory trackers
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate stores documentation
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and record-keeping requirements

Coordination & Operational Support

• Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Commercial, and Project teams regarding material requirements and deliveries
• Support timely resolution of material and documentation discrepancies
• Apply technical and discipline-specific knowledge to stores and materials activities
• Undertake other reasonable responsibilities as required by management

What We're Looking For

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Stores Control, Materials Control, Inventory Management, or a similar role, preferably within construction or MEP projects. The JD specifies 5+ years of experience.

Knowledge: Construction site stores operations, material receiving and issuing, stock reconciliation, material handling and storage practices, inventory control, and HSE requirements.

Expertise: Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, basic stores registers and reporting systems, with exposure to ERP or inventory management systems preferred. ERP/inventory exposure, MEP materials familiarity, and forklift/lifting coordination awareness as desirable.

Top Skills

• Qualification in an appropriate discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Strong experience in stores and materials control on construction sites
• Good knowledge of stock records and reconciliation
• Strong understanding of material handling and storage practices
• Good HSE awareness within stores operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to coordinate effectively with site, procurement, logistics, and project teams
• MEP materials familiarity is an advantage
• ERP or inventory system exposure is desirable
