Role Overview:

The Structural Engineer is responsible for inspecting and monitoring structural and bridge works on site to ensure they comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and safety requirements. The role focuses on field inspection, documentation, quality assurance, and contractor compliance for structural elements, particularly within roads, bridges, and tunnels projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily site inspections for structural and bridge works, including foundations, substructures, superstructures, and concrete activities.
  • Verify that all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and method statements.
  • Check reinforcement placement, formwork, concrete casting, curing, and post-tensioning works.
  • Review and verify material deliveries and material approvals prior to installation.
  • Monitor structural construction sequences to ensure compliance with the approved plan.
  • Witness and document tests, inspections, and mock-ups related to structural elements.
  • Report non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Review contractor submittals, inspection requests, and site queries (RFIs) and escalate when needed.
  • Coordinate with Site Engineers and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations during structural activities.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports, photographs, and progress records.
  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on inspection findings.
  • Support handover procedures and final inspections for structural works.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 710 years of experience in structural inspection.
  • Proven experience in roads, bridges, and tunnels projects (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of concrete technology, reinforcement, and structural construction methods.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, ACI, BS, and relevant Saudi standards.
  • Knowledge of inspection procedures, quality control, and documentation requirements.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Experience working with consultants or PMC environments is preferred.
