The Structural Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and quality of all construction elements on-site. This role involves reviewing designs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with Abu Dhabi building codes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Review & Compliance:
  • Review and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and design documents to ensure constructability, adherence to local building codes and project requirements.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of structural calculations and details.
  • Ensure all structural work complies with approved designs, specifications, and relevant industry standards.
  1. Site Supervision & Quality Control:
  • Conduct regular site inspections of all structural works, including rebar placement, formwork, concrete pouring, post-tensioning, and steel erection.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, defects, or non-conformities in structural elements.
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials related to structural components
  • Witness and approve critical structural operations and testing
  1. Problem Solving & Coordination:
  • Address and resolve structural-related technical issues that arise during construction, coordinating with design consultants, project management, and contractors.
  • Propose practical and compliant solutions to site challenges, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration of structural elements.
  1. Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, progress reports, and non-conformance reports for structural works.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of structural inspections, material test results, and correspondence.
  • Participate in site meetings and provide technical input on structural matters.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of practical on-site construction experience as a Structural Engineer
  • Language: Professional fluency in both Mandarin and English is mandatory for seamless cross-team communication.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials (concrete, steel), and construction methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, BS, local municipality regulations).
