Background
Mercuria's Structured Trade Finance team originates, structures, and distributes financing solutions against physical commodity flows and related assets, across the commodities we trade. This spans prepayment and pre-export finance (PXF), bridge loans, acquisition financing, and other structured facilities. We're looking for a Structured Finance Manager to support deal execution across origination, structuring, syndication, and bank/investor distribution across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure and execute a range of financing solutions — including prepayment/PXF facilities, bridge loans, and acquisition financing — against physical commodity offtake or other assets, including security packages (assignments, pledges, guarantees)
- Lead or support syndication and distribution to bank and private credit lenders (relationship banks, funds)
- Lead bilateral trade financing facility set up with banks across Asia and China. Including structuring, negotiation, reviewing and execution
- Support the Manager in a broader range of structured financing transactions, including:
- Term loan
- Borrowing base facilities
- Prepayment/ PXF
- Inventory and receivables financing
- ECA financing etc.
- Draft and negotiate term sheets, facility agreements, and security documentation alongside external legal counsel
- Conduct counterparty due diligence: corporate structure, financials, sector/commodity flow analysis
- Manage documentation workstreams including drafting term sheets and facility agreements, coordinating internal stakeholders (credit, legal, trading, compliance) and external parties (lenders, counsel, trading counterparties)
- Monitor deal covenants, drawdowns, and ongoing facility administration
- Support senior management with market/deal reporting (deal matrices, pipeline updates, board/CFO materials)
- Build and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions
- Assist in developing new financing structures
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in structured trade finance, corporate banking, commodity finance, treasury, or a related financial services role.
- Strong understanding of lending structures such as prepayment/PXF, bridge financing, or acquisition financing
- Experience supporting cross-border financing transactions and coordinating with banks, legal counsel and internal stakeholders.
- Industry knowledge of the commodities we trade and finance, and their underlying markets, supply chains, and price dynamics
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills; comfortable working directly with external legal counsel
- Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to deal execution, able to navigate complexity and competing priorities under deal timelines
- Excellent stakeholder management — able to coordinate across credit, legal, trading, and external counterparties
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, law, economics, or related field; relevant professional qualifications a plus
- Fluent in English, and able to read Chinese documents in an advantage
