Job Description
Role Description The Sustainability Director is a part-time, remote role responsible for leading the Society's sustainability vision and initiatives. This position oversees the development and implementation of sustainability strategies that align with the organization's mission and values, including integrating environmental and social responsibility into events, operations, and partnerships. Day-to-day tasks include designing sustainability policies, coordinating sustainability-related projects and campaigns, preparing reports and presentations on sustainability performance, and advising executive members on best practices. The Sustainability Director collaborates with student leaders, faculty advisors, and external partners to promote sustainable practices across the community and to raise awareness of current sustainability issues relevant to the accountancy profession. The role also involves monitoring progress against sustainability goals and sharing insights that support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility, with the ability to design and guide sustainability strategies.
- Experience or strong interest in Sustainability Reporting, including collecting data, drafting reports, and communicating sustainability outcomes.
- Knowledge of Environmental Science and Carbon-related topics, such as emissions, climate impact, and mitigation approaches.
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a remote setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex sustainability concepts to diverse audiences.
- Collaborative mindset and leadership potential, with experience working in student organizations, nonprofits, or community groups preferred.
- Interest or background in accountancy, business, or related fields; coursework or certification in sustainability or ESG is an advantage.
