Job Description

Position Overview

The Sustainability Engineer supports the delivery of green building, sustainability, ESG, and digital certification projects across the organization.

The role focuses on technical execution, client coordination, documentation, and proposal support, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with international sustainability standards.

This position contributes directly to project success, client satisfaction, and the growth of the sustainability consultancy vertical.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Project Execution

  • Support and execute sustainability and green building consultancy projects from initiation to certification.
  • Deliver and support certifications including:
  • LEED BD+C, O+M, and ID+C
  • WELL Certification
  • Estidama Certification
  • Prepare sustainability documentation, scorecards, assessments, audits, and technical submissions.
  • Conduct carbon accounting support, energy performance reviews, IEQ assessments, and sustainability evaluations.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with international standards, rating systems, and quality requirements.

Client Coordination and Engagement

  • Coordinate directly with clients, consultants, contractors, FM teams, and other stakeholders under project leadership guidance.
  • Participate in client meetings, workshops, and technical discussions.
  • Provide technical inputs, clarifications, and advisory support aligned with client requirements.
  • Support project updates, reporting, and follow-ups to ensure smooth client communication.

Proposal and Commercial Support

  • Support preparation of technical proposals for sustainability and certification services.
  • Assist in developing fee estimates, scope definitions, and commercial inputs.
  • Review RFP/RFQ requirements and support proposal submissions.
  • Assist with tender clarifications and client follow-ups as required.
  • Support pipeline development and opportunity tracking for the sustainability vertical.

Documentation, Reporting and Quality Control

  • Prepare progress reports, sustainability assessments, carbon reports, and technical summaries.
  • Maintain systematic project documentation, records, and certification evidence.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all submissions.
  • Follow internal templates, tools, and best-practice processes.

Operational Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Support development of project schedules, action plans, and execution frameworks.
  • Assist in identifying technical risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Stay updated on sustainability regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the sustainability team.

Compliance and Standards Alignment

  • Ensure compliance with LEED, WELL, Estidama, and other applicable sustainability frameworks.
  • Support internal audits, reviews, and quality assurance processes.
  • Escalate compliance risks or technical issues to project leadership.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned project tasks
  • Quality and completeness of technical documentation
  • Certification success rate
  • Responsiveness and coordination with clients and stakeholders
  • Contribution to proposal support and business development
  • Compliance with internal processes and quality standards

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines

Professional Certifications

  • LEED AP (BD+C and/or O+M)
  • WELL AP (preferred)
  • Carbon Auditing Professional (CAP) (advantage)
  • Estidama PQP (advantage)

Experience

  • Min. 5 years of experience in sustainability engineering or green building consultancy
  • Hands on experience supporting LEED, WELL, and/or Estidama certification projects
  • Experience supporting proposal preparation and technical submissions
  • Exposure to client coordination and multi-disciplinary project teams

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles and certification frameworks
  • Good technical writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks across parallel projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication and coordination skills
  • High attention to detail and quality orientation

Other Requirements:

  • Valid UAE driving license; access to a personal vehicle is an advantage.
