Job Title: Switchgear Electrician
Reports to: Supervisor/Manager
Job Objectives:
Inspect and performs preventive and maintenance on all lighting and electrical switchgear, including coordinating modifications with the Department.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Needs to have the ability to read control panel drawings.
- Must have the ability to use hand tools and power tools in order to assemble, install, test, and maintain LV electrical control panels.
- Analyze the malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters, and test lamps, IR tester, Dielectric tester.
- Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and components.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
