Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The job holder is responsible for sourcing international business through brokers, maintaining working relationship with brokers and converting submissions into bound business.
  • The job holder is responsible for assessing and underwriting new and renewal business, maintaining renewals base, achieve business and profitability targets.
  • The job holder is expected to operate within the syndicate rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The person requires good networking with reputed reinsurance brokers mainly based in London, Dubai, Singapore markets.
  • Ensure adequate submission flows from different brokers
  • The position requires a good level of technical expertise and knowledge in underwriting Property, Power and Construction line of business.
  • Applies underwriting and risk selection techniques to determine the acceptability of new and renewal insurance risks.
  • Provide quotes to brokers within reasonable time and provide service to brokers.
  • Comply with Lloyds underwriting control including rating, peer review, underwriting guidelines etc.
  • Gather, prepare and present monthly management reports on own activity.
  • Assess, evaluate and price risk using risk modelling techniques and prescribed underwriting guidelines
  • Ensure timely booking of business in the system.
  • Assist in providing an accurate, high quality and speedy underwriting service that builds broker relations and credibility
  • Liaison with operations, reinsurance and claims on as required basis
  • Responsible P&L for assigned class of business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 5 years experience as an underwriter or broker writing Property, Power and Renewables risks for a Syndicate, International company, or an International Broking House.
  • As the role excludes the United States and Mena regions a strong focus on International Property and Power is desired but other appropriate experience will be considered.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the International Reinsurance Market
  • Specialized in Property, Power and Renewable Energy
  • Generalized in Marine and Construction Line of Business will be an advantage.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Reasonable knowledge of MS Applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • GPW target as per Syndicate SBF
  • Profitability target as per Syndicate SBF
  • No. of submissions
  • Adherence to Underwriting Control Protocol
