Job Summary
The System Data Center Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting enterprise data center infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of on-premise systems. This role focuses on server and storage management, infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, and operational excellence. The engineer will collaborate with network, security, and application teams to support mission-critical IT services and maintain robust data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain enterprise data center infrastructure including servers, storage systems, and virtualization platforms.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of on-premise infrastructure.
- Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents.
- Lead capacity planning and resource optimization for compute, storage, and system resources.
- Implement and manage patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of server infrastructure.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations to ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with network, security, and cloud teams to maintain integrated infrastructure environments.
- Oversee hardware installations, system deployments, migrations, and upgrades within the data center.
- Maintain detailed system documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, operational policies, and IT governance frameworks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data center operations, system engineering, or infrastructure management.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise servers (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, etc.).
- Experience managing storage platforms (SAN, NAS, enterprise storage systems).
- Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Windows Server and Linux administration.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals and data center architecture.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
