System Engineer (Hardware & Asset Management engineer)

Role Overview

The Hardware & Asset Management Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of all IT infrastructure hardware and assets supporting venue and enterprise operations. This role oversees asset inventory, procurement, deployment, maintenance, tracking, compliance, and retirement of critical infrastructure components, ensuring operational readiness and high availability of services during business and event operations.

The position manages assets across data center infrastructure, cloud environments, CCTV systems, networking equipment, servers, storage platforms, and end-user infrastructure while maintaining accurate records and compliance with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Infrastructure Asset Management

Manage and maintain the complete inventory of ICT infrastructure assets, including:

Servers

Storage systems

Network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)

UPS systems

Audio-Visual (AV) equipment

End-user devices and peripherals

Ensure all infrastructure assets are properly tracked, tagged, documented, and maintained throughout their lifecycle.

Maintain asset records within Asset Management databases and CMDB platforms.

Support hardware refresh cycles and technology upgrades with minimal operational disruption.

Maintain spare equipment inventory and coordinate emergency replacements when required.

2. HCI & Infrastructure Lifecycle Management

Manage procurement, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement of:

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platforms

Storage systems

Network infrastructure assets

Ensure accurate asset documentation, ownership records, and lifecycle status updates.

Coordinate infrastructure asset audits and compliance reviews.

Support rapid deployment and recovery activities during critical business operations and events.

3. Cloud Infrastructure Asset Management

Track and manage cloud-based infrastructure assets including:

Virtual Machines

Cloud storage resources

Networking components

Platform services

Coordinate with cloud operations teams for provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning activities.

Maintain inventory of cloud subscriptions, licenses, and resource allocations.

Ensure compliance with cloud governance, security, and cost-management policies.

4. CCTV & Security Infrastructure Asset Management

Manage lifecycle and inventory of:

CCTV cameras

NVR/DVR systems

Access control systems

Security monitoring devices

Coordinate installation, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.

Work closely with security and operations teams to ensure service availability and compliance.

5. Documentation, Reporting & Compliance

Maintain accurate asset registers, inventory reports, and audit documentation.

Generate periodic reports on asset utilization, lifecycle status, warranties, and refresh schedules.

Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and audit requirements.

Support IT procurement and budgeting activities through accurate asset forecasting.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.

Additional certifications in Infrastructure, Asset Management, Cloud, or IT Operations are advantageous.

Required Experience

Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience managing ICT infrastructure assets.

Proven experience with:

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

Cloud Infrastructure

CCTV & Security Systems

Enterprise IT Infrastructure

Experience managing asset lifecycle processes in large enterprise environments.

Technical Skills

IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools such as:

Matrix42

ServiceNow

Microsoft SCCM/MECM

Lansweeper

Infrastructure technologies:

Servers and Storage

Networking (Switching, Routing, Firewalls)

Virtualization Platforms

Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)

CCTV and Security Systems

CMDB administration and asset tracking processes.

Inventory management and asset auditing.
