To maintain computer systems, and to develop new technical solutions as demanded by the technical and business strategies.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Install and maintain Backup infrastructure.
- Provide on-call and out of hours incident support.
- Research and develop new technologies.
- Provide general incident and problem support.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Windows Server
- TCP/IP, DHCP,DNS and Active Directory
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware and networking equipment
- Trouble Shooting:
- Using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Using documentation and external resources
- Good shell scripting skills
- An ability to produce documentation that is well- structured and well-written.
- To be conscious of the requirement for on-going security and to apply it as appropriate
- Experience of delivering complete technical projects.
- Experience with operating system imaging technology (Drive Imaging).
- Working experience with Backup solutions
- Monitoring IT infrastructure use and providing accountability
- Working knowledge of SQL-Server, Microsoft server and client Architecture
