Job Description:
Role Overview
- The System Site Engineer will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining a mission-critical applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This role combines expertise in Linux system administration, network expertise, application deployment automation (using tools like Ansible and Puppet), and strong technical knowledge of SQL databases (Oracle) and Java-based applications.
- You will work closely with developers, database administrators, and system architects to ensure the system operates reliably, securely, and efficiently in production and non-production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Deployment & Automation
- Deploy and maintain Java-based applications on Linux RHEL servers.
- Automate deployment, configuration, and patching processes using Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
- Develop and maintain deployment pipelines for application and infrastructure updates.
- System Administration
- Perform advanced Linux system administration tasks including applications configurations, troubleshooting of installed applications, network configurations, and performance optimizations.
- Understanding of LDAP, and PKI concepts.
- Ensure high availability, system hardening, and security compliance.
- Participate in incident management and root cause analysis.
- Database Management
- Support and maintain the Oracle Database environment.
- Collaborate with DBAs on schema deployment, backup strategies, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity and configuration issues.
- Application & Middleware Support
- Support Java (Spring Boot) and Flowable BPM applications running on the system.
- Perform first level defect analysis
- Update applications configurations
- Manage application logs, configurations, and integrations with other systems.
- Support developers and testers during release cycles.
- Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to DevOps best practices for CI/CD, monitoring, and configuration management.
- Develop scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux system administration, or application deployment roles.
Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL) administration (mandatory).
- Strong understanding of Network concepts and network configuration on Linux.
- Proven experience with Ansible, Puppet, or similar automation tools.
- Strong understanding of Oracle Database administration concepts.
- Solid knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and BPM tools (preferably Flowable).
- Experience in managing production environments and troubleshooting performance or integration issues.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Market or Energy Management Systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Podman) and Kubernetes.
- Certification in Red Hat, Oracle, or Java technologies.
