Job Description
The Tally Clerk is responsible for accurately recording, verifying, and monitoring the movement of goods, containers, and inventory within the warehouse, yard, or terminal. The role ensures that all inbound and outbound cargo is correctly accounted for, discrepancies are reported promptly, and operational records are maintained in accordance with company procedures.
- Verify and record all incoming and outgoing goods, containers, and cargo movements.
- Conduct physical checks and compare quantities against shipping documents, manifests, delivery notes, and system records.
- Maintain accurate tally sheets, inventory records, and operational logs.
- Report shortages, damages, overages, and discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor or Operations Team.
- Assist in stock counts, inventory audits, and cycle counting activities.
- Monitor loading and unloading operations to ensure cargo is handled and recorded accurately.
- Ensure all cargo movements are correctly entered into warehouse management systems or operational databases.
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, transport, and operations personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
- Verify container numbers, seal numbers, and cargo details during receiving and dispatch operations.
- Maintain proper filing and record retention of operational documents.
- Follow company health, safety, and security procedures at all times.
- Support operational reporting and provide updates on cargo and inventory status as required.
Academic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, cargo handling, port, terminal, or inventory operations.
- Experience in tallying, inventory control, cargo verification, or documentation is preferred.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, or inventory software is an advantage
