Job Purpose:
To ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of the company's tax, statutory accounting, and regulatory reporting obligations. The Tax & Statutory Senior Accountant is responsible for managing tax filings, statutory reporting, reconciliations, audits, and related compliance activities, while identifying tax and financial risks and supporting continuous improvement of accounting and compliance processes.
The role ensures that all tax and statutory requirements are met in accordance with Egyptian and applicable laws, regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies, while providing reliable financial and tax information to management and relevant stakeholders.
Key Accountability:
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare, review, and submit periodic tax returns and declarations in accordance with applicable tax laws and deadlines.
- Manage corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, payroll-related taxes, and other applicable statutory taxes.
- Ensure accurate calculation, reconciliation, and settlement of tax liabilities.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Maintain accurate tax records, supporting schedules, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Coordinate with tax authorities and respond to tax-related inquiries, assessments, and requests for information.
- Support tax audits, inspections, and assessments, including preparation of required documentation and reconciliations.
- Identify potential tax risks and recommend appropriate mitigation actions.
Statutory Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards and local regulations.
- Ensure timely completion of statutory filings and regulatory submissions.
- Perform statutory account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure appropriate accounting treatment for statutory and tax-related transactions.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial and regulatory reports required by governmental and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
Reconciliations & Financial Controls
- Perform regular reconciliations of tax accounts, balance sheet accounts, and statutory ledgers.
- Investigate variances and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for accounting and tax transactions.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls related to tax and statutory reporting.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers on tax and statutory matters.
- Provide supporting schedules, analyses, and documentation during external and internal audits.
- Work closely with Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Legal, and other departments to ensure accurate tax and statutory compliance.
Provide technical accounting and tax support to management and relevant business stakeholders.
Qualifications and Certificates
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Relevant tax certification or specialized tax training is an advantage.
Experience and Knowledge
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in tax accounting, statutory accounting, financial reporting, or a similar finance role.
- Strong practical experience in tax compliance and statutory reporting.
- Hands-on experience with preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory declarations.
- Experience in handling tax audits, statutory audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Demonstrated experience in account reconciliations, month-end/year-end closing, and financial reporting.
- Good understanding of applicable tax regulations, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Previous experience in a multinational, regional, or fast-paced business environment is an advantage.
- Experience coordinating with external auditors, tax consultants, and government/regulatory authorities is preferred
