The Teaching and Learning Designer will play a key role in advancing the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning's (CITL) mission to promote teaching excellence and innovation across the university. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and continuous enhancement of certification programs and professional development offerings for faculty, post-docs, and graduate students. Working collaboratively with the CITL team and faculty across disciplines, the Teaching and Learning Designer will develop high-quality, learner-centered experiences that reflect current best practices in instructional design and higher education pedagogy.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new certification programs and professional development modules for faculty, post-docs, and graduate students.
- Enhance and expand existing certification programs based on needs assessments and participant feedback.
- Develop learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and course materials for face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery.
- Consult with faculty on course design, teaching strategies, and integration of educational technologies.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on teaching and learning topics.
- Collaborate with faculty to incorporate innovative approaches, including AI tools and active learning strategies.
- Develop and implement tools to evaluate program effectiveness and measure participant learning outcomes. Design and produce guides, templates, and online resources to support faculty development.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, faculty development, or related role in higher education
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering certification programs or comprehensive training initiatives Experience facilitating workshops and working collaboratively with faculty or subject matter expert.
Required Qualifications
- Master`s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education, or a closely related field.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse faculty and staff.
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Creative problem-solving and adaptability.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of learning theories, instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, Backward Design), and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with educational technologies, learning management systems
- (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas), and AI applications in teaching.
