Job Description

Kuwait College of Science and Technology is fully licensed by the nation's Ministry of Higher
Education/Private Universities Council and started its operation in 2016 offering degrees in Computer
Science, Computer Engineering and Electronics and Communications Engineering. In 2022, the student
population exceeded 1600, and the first cohort of engineers has graduated. The University has an
outstandingly high research output in the context of the private universities in the Region.

One of the cornerstones of the University's strategy is Engineering with Leadership, which means that
the University aims to produce engineering graduates who are aware and conversant with management
theory and techniques. Thus, its current engineering curricula already contain significant portions of
economics, management, and entrepreneurship. In the near future, a new Faculty of Business
Management will be launched.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is recruiting ambitious academics with a proven
track record in teaching.

Job Vacancy Teaching Assistant

Candidates should have the expertise to assist the faculty in the delivery of courses in the subject area

through the delivery of a tutorial session and a hands-on laboratory session in their subject area. This

includes working closely with the course-leader faculty member to create the tutorial and hands-on

material and deliver the sessions. The Teaching Assistant sets up the lab in preparation for experiments

and prepares the necessary documentations. The TA will also support students outside regular class

hours through formal and informal sessions.

In addition to the above, the teaching assistant is committed for teaching foundation courses in math,

science, and IT, as per the work needs. The Teaching Assistant may also be assigned any work other than

the agreed upon, if necessary, within the qualifications and expertise of the Teaching Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the professor/s in the smooth conduct of the course

Undertake tutorial and support sessions and hold weekly office hours as instructed by the

course professor/s.

Prepare study materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations

Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.

Supervising laboratory work and College/student activities.

Demonstrating the use of laboratory equipment and enforce laboratory rules and safety

guidelines.

Setting up Laboratory for students activities and work

Grade homework, course assignments, or projects

Prepare reading material or supplementary notes.

Maintain grade records of students in the tutorial and lab sessions

Attend and contribute to departmental meetings or events.

Preparing the tutorial key solutions and upload the files to LMS (Moodle).

Proctoring examinations.

Attending training sessions or professional meetings to develop or maintain professional

knowledge.

Provide guiding support to the Final Year Project projects.

Assisting faculty members with student conferences and projects or research.

Successful candidates are expected to have:

Master's degree in computer science or Computer Engineering from a reputed University

Minimum 5 years teaching experience in Computer Science or Engineering programs preferably

in higher education

Good knowledge in all or some of the following technical aspects: a) GUI programming,

preferably on Microsoft Platforms, b) Programming in C/C++, C#, Java, Assembly, c) Microsoft

Visual Studio, NET Technology, Team Foundation Server, d) App Development on Xcode,

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Good class room management skills

Ability to make a good impression on students

Professional attitude towards work and colleagues

Respect for diversity

Organizational and planning skill

Fluent in written and spoken English is essential

Work experience in the Middle East and acute awareness of cross-cultural differences in the

worlds of teaching and learning
