The Job Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of technicians to ensure all vehicle maintenance and repair activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer standards and company procedures.
The role ensures high-quality workmanship, optimal workshop productivity, effective workload distribution, and adherence to promised delivery dates while supporting customer satisfaction objectives and operational KPIs.
The Team Leader acts as the first line of technical leadership within the workshop by providing guidance, coaching, quality oversight, and problem-solving support for complex repair cases.

1. Automotive Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Support technicians in diagnosing complex vehicle faults and technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance for difficult repair cases.
- Ensure root cause analysis is conducted before repair activities commence.
- Escalate critical technical concerns when required.

2. Repair Quality Assurance
- Monitor repair quality standards across the team.
- Conduct post-repair quality inspections and audits.
- Ensure repairs are completed according to manufacturer requirements.
- Reduce rework and comeback cases through proactive quality control.

3. Workshop Operations Management
- Supervise daily workshop activities within the assigned team.
- Allocate jobs and workload based on technician capability and workshop priorities.
- Monitor work progress to ensure operational efficiency.
- Support achievement of departmental productivity objectives.

4. Warranty & Manufacturer Compliance
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer repair procedures.
- Monitor proper execution of warranty repair requirements.
- Ensure accurate documentation for warranty-related activities.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.

5. Productivity & Workload Planning
- Ensure repairs are completed within approved estimates and promised delivery timelines.
- Monitor technician productivity and utilization.
- Support resource planning and workflow optimization.
- Coordinate with Parts, Service Advisors, Warranty, and Quality teams to avoid delays.

6. Team Leadership & Development
- Provide coaching and on-the-job development for technicians.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Support performance improvement initiatives.
- Encourage teamwork and knowledge sharing.

- Support Service Advisors in addressing technical customer inquiries.
- Participate in customer discussions when technical clarification is required.

The Job Profile

Educational Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

Professional Certifications
- 1Manufacturer Technical Certification (Preferred)/ Automotive Diagnostic Certification (Preferred).

Experience
- Minimum 4 years of automotive workshop experience.
- Experience within an automotive dealership environment.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring technicians is preferred.
