The Roles: Hands-On Tech Lead (Mobile | Frontend | Backend)

WasteHero is hiring three senior, hands-on Tech Leads to drive technical excellence and delivery across our core product areas:

– Tech Lead – Mobile (React Native)

– Tech Lead – Frontend (React)

– Tech Lead – Backend (Python/Django, FastAPI)

Each Tech Lead will own their domain while collaborating closely with product, design, QA, DevOps, and engineering leadership across Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Egypt.

These are high-impact roles for engineers who want to lead by example — staying hands-on in code, setting strong engineering standards, and guiding a team towards world-class execution.

What You'll Do (for all three Tech Lead positions)

– Lead a domain-specific engineering team (Mobile, Frontend, or Backend) while remaining an active contributor in the codebase.

– Drive architectural decisions, scalability improvements, and long-term maintainability of mission-critical systems.

– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features across our SaaS platform.

– Review code, provide technical guidance, and mentor engineers at different experience levels.

– Ensure high engineering quality, performance, and reliability across applications and services.

– Work closely with product managers and designers to shape technical direction and execution strategies.

– Support CI/CD, testing, deployments, and operational excellence within your domain.

– Foster a culture of clarity, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Role-Specific Requirements

Tech Lead – Mobile (React Native)

You have:

– 5–7+ years in mobile development with 3+ years in React Native.

– Deep expertise in mobile architectures, performance optimisation, OTA updates, and app store deployment.

– Strong understanding of REST/GraphQL integrations, offline functionality, secure data flow.

– Experience leading mobile teams or acting as a senior driver of technical direction.

Tech Lead – Frontend (React)

You have:

– 5–7+ years of frontend development with advanced React + TypeScript experience.

– Strong competence in state management, scalable component architecture, and UI/UX collaboration.

– Experience integrating GraphQL/REST APIs and building enterprise-grade interfaces.

– A track record of mentoring developers and enforcing modern frontend best practices.

Tech Lead – Backend (Python/Django + FastAPI)

You have:

– 5–7+ years backend engineering experience in Python/Django, with FastAPI a strong plus.

– Strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills and experience building scalable APIs and services.

– Experience with ETL pipelines, data migrations, and integration-heavy environments.

– Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and distributed system design.
