Technical Advisor
 
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialized mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.

The Role
 
We are looking to hire a Technical Advisor to maximize the availability, reliability, and safe operation of heavy mobile equipment (HME). Based in the HME Workshop, this role serves as the ultimate technical authority for complex diagnostics, repair strategies, and component management while coaching frontline trades and contractors.
 
The Key Responsibilities
 
  • Diagnostics & Strategy: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, powertrain, and electrical faults; define precise repair scopes to eliminate repeat failures and rework.
  • Condition Monitoring: Conduct routine fleet inspections and provide evidence-based go/no-go service recommendations based on operational risk.
  • Work Control & Rebuilds: Translate inspection defects into SAP-managed weekly plans; coordinate shutdowns, component change-outs, and high-risk major lifts.
  • Workforce Coaching: Provide on-the-job mentoring to trades and contractors to upgrade diagnostic quality and enforce OEM/site compliance.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), permit-to-work, and ISO 14001:2015 environmental standards to eliminate high-potential hazards.
The Requirements
 
Qualifications 
  • Trade apprenticeship / Technical Diploma in Heavy Equipment Maintenance (Mechanical or Electrical discipline as applicable), e.g., NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds (or equivalent).
  • Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND) or Engineering Diploma (preferred).
  • OEM advanced technical training relevant to assigned fleet stream(s) (e.g., Caterpillar service training, hydraulics, diagnostics).
  • Coaching/supervisory development training; Training & Assessment certification (e.g., TAE40116) advantageous.
Experience and Skills 
  • Minimum 8 years experience in mobile equipment maintenance within mining or heavy industry, including complex diagnostics and major repairs.
  • OEM service information and diagnostic platforms (e.g., Caterpillar SIS; Caterpillar Electronic
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching trades teams/contractors and coordinating planned maintenance and breakdown response.
  • Experience using CMMS (SAP or equivalent) and OEM systems for work control, reporting and technical decision support.
  • Valid driving licence (required).
  • Site permits/authorisations for operating service vehicles and mobile equipment in operational areas (LV/SV and pit permits as applicable).
  • Permits/licences for lifting equipment and high-risk work where applicable (forklift, telehandler, EWP, mobile crane/HIAB), in line with SGM rules.
